Eric Clapton - Happy Xmas

Not sure when is too soon to start playing Christmas music but I started today with a new CD I just got in. It took him 22 studio albums before he made his first Xmas album, I am talking about the new album from Eric Clapton call "Happy Xmas". Have to say I did enjoy it as all the songs are really done in Eric Clapton's relaxed blues style and don't sound like the traditional sappy Christmas songs. The album includes one original song and the rest are covers of Christmas standards. If you like Eric Clapton and feel you need to listen to Christmas music this is a good album. Personally, I really like the simplicity of the cover as well.

The Devil Makes Three - Do Wrong Right

Out of town for the last couple days so haven't posted. Sitting in my office on a Saturday afternoon working on a monitoring report and listening to music. As you may have noticed from my playlist I am not an avid Country music fan but this one is what I would call Country music or maybe Western - not sure the difference. I discovered this album from a snowboarding video that had an amazing soundtrack to it including the album "Do Wrong Right" from the Devil Makes Three. This is the fourth album from this Santa Cruz band. I really enjoy the title track but all of the songs on this album are great. They also do a good rendition of Statesboro Blues.

Cowboy Junkies - The Trinity Sessions

Cowboy Junkies "Trinity Sessions" possibly one of my favorite albums of all time. Turn it up loud and listen to it in quiet surroundings to get the full effect. This album was recorded "live" in a church in Toronto using a single microphone with no mixing or overdubing of any sort. They told the church that they were recording a Christmas special and were called the Timmins family singers. They apparently had to bribe a security guard to let them stay late and finish the recording. The acoustics on this album are amazing. Margo Timmins voice seems to be made for this venue. Give it a listen and be prepared to be amazed. This is a go to album when I am listening to another music system - if I get tingles down my spine then the system is okay.
